Kyrie Irving Aspires to be Good Influence for Young, Impressionable Conspiracy Theorists

By Zach Hankins & Drew LucasNEW YORK - Despite being under fire for his strong stance against New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and his decision to not get vaccinated, Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving is still looking to try and make an impact on his community. Just last week it was reported that while Irving isn’t anti-vaccination, he will continue to sit out and be “a voice for the voiceless.”Irving defended his history of embracing conspiracy theories and his hope for future theorists in an exclusive interview with End of the Bench.“Someone needs to tell all the young theorists out there to keep looking up to the skies that are full of chemtrails planted by the government to sterilize us and control our minds,” Irving said. “I believe I can be that someone.”Irving is no stranger to facing backlash over controversial ideas, as he once promoted the idea that the Earth is flat and more recently has been liking Instagram posts that suggest secret societies are administering vaccines in a plot to connect people to a master computer for “a plan of Satan.”Despite the off the court distraction, the Brooklyn Nets are planning to move forward without their all-star point guard for the 2021 season, recently announcing that Irving wouldn't even be allowed to practice with the team until he is fully vaccinated. Rumors have also begun to circulate lately about Irving possibly retiring over his stance on vaccinations.“Over Jimmy Hoffa’s dead body,” Irving told EOTB on rumors of his retirement. “These rumors are completely untrue and show how dangerous misinformation on the internet can be.”Even after all of this, Irving continues to claim his intentions are for the “greater good.” “I just want all the young, unheard thinkers out there to know that our time on this flat Earth is precious, and I'm here for them."The Brooklyn Nets open their season tonight on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first game of the NBA’s 2021 season.
