Former Interns “Excited” To Get Back to Work

TUSCALOOSA - Former interns at the University of Alabama are reportedly “excited” to return to work this coming weekend, sources tell End of the Bench.The University of Alabama football team, which regularly employed up to 125 unpaid college interns until earlier this summer when the NCAA’s new name, image and likeness rules went into place, opens its season Saturday against the Miami Hurricanes, who will also feature a roster of now paid employees.“It’s just really exciting to get back out there and actually get paid to do it,” said Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young, who is now earning close to $1 million dollars after being paid absolutely nothing last season. Not a bad pay raise.“I’ve been able to buy so much more Chik-fil-A,” Young said with a chuckle. Young isn’t the only unpaid intern set to start his official job this coming weekend, as the majority of college football programs across the country are set to showcase their new employees after a small opening slate of games last weekend.The Crimson Tide are listed as the odds-on early favorite (+260) this upcoming season, followed by Clemson (+525) and Oklahoma (+650).No matter who takes home the title, one thing is clear - it’s college football’s newest paid employees that are the real winners this coming season.
