Conor Mcgregor Announces Fight With Own Ego

DUBLIN—Saying this was the battle he had been waiting for his entire career, UFC fighter Conor McGregor announced Monday that his next opponent would be none other than his own unchecked ego.
“People try to discredit me all the time by saying I haven’t defeated the most dangerous fighters on the planet,” McGregor said during a press conference outside his psychiatrist’s office. “Well, here we are. There’s no bigger danger than my own ego, is there?”
McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, has lost his last two fights and faced criticism from fans and media for his inactivity over the past three years. However, many in the MMA world were unaware he had been preparing for what he described as his toughest challenge yet.
“I know my ego is gigantic, wild, and ruthless. In fact, my entire criminal record is because of my ego,” McGregor said. “But Conor McGregor is not scared of anyone, even if it’s his own demons. A victory here will be nothing short of a championship for me.”
According to sources, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, has already begun an intense fight camp to prepare him for the matchup by analyzing his ego's performances.
“Conor’s ego is one of the most impressive egos out there. We’ve seen it show its true prowess many times—like when he beats up random old men at bars,” Kavanagh said. “But we’re confident in our game plan to exploit the moments when his ego can be fragile. We think that will let us get the victory.”
The announcement has hyped up UFC fans and media alike. While McGregor’s supporters believe he can win if he works on his cardio, others feel his ego’s size gives him a reach advantage that might be a decisive factor.
“It’s definitely going to be one of the most exciting fights we’ll ever see,” said UFC President Dana White. “We’ve been trying to arrange this fight for a long time. Most of the time, Conor was injured, or one of his losses had left his ego fractured.”
At press time, sources revealed that after his ego, McGregor is also scheduled to fight his arrogance, narcissism, and greed.
